GoLandscape

Careers and Information Website for a Landscaping Industry Trade Association

Job roles section on the GoLandscape careers website, showing roles across landscaping and horticulture
Project Summary

GoLandscape needed careers website design that could do a job no single business ever has to do, sell an entire industry. Run by the British Association of Landscape Industries, GoLandscape is the sector’s education, skills and careers initiative, built to bring new people into landscaping and horticulture and to close a skills shortage the industry has felt for years.

The site they came to us with was dated and awkward to edit. Every small content change meant going back to their previous web company, who charged heavily for minor work, so the team had almost no control over their own website. Search visibility had been sliding since 2022, and the structure made it hard for anyone, whether a school leaver, a parent, or a careers adviser, to find what they actually needed.

We redesigned and restructured the whole site around the people it exists to reach. Job roles now have their own section, so someone who knows the job title but not the industry lands straight on the right page. The career finder quiz gives people with no idea where to start a proper route in. Training, apprenticeships, success stories and resources all sit in clear paths, and a full website redesign means the team can publish content themselves. You can see it live at golandscape.co.uk.

Why careers website design works differently

Most websites are measured in sales. This one is measured in people. GoLandscape has no product to push, it has an industry to fill, and that changes what the site has to do. Every page has to answer a question someone is quietly asking, whether that is what the job really involves, whether qualifications are needed, or whether it is too late to change direction. Get those answers in front of the right person quickly, and the industry gains a recruit. Bury them, and that person goes and looks at something else.

How we helped

Website Redesign and Restructure

  • A full redesign, rebuilt on a structure that matches how people actually search for a career
  • A dedicated job roles section covering dozens of roles across landscaping, horticulture, arboriculture and design
  • The career finder quiz, giving visitors who do not know where to start a guided route to the right path
  • Separate journeys for school leavers, parents, careers advisers, career changers and employers, plus video success stories showing real people who took each route
  • Built in Elementor, so the team can add pages, update content and publish news without paying someone else to do it

SEO, Content and Ongoing Support

  • Ongoing SEO to recover the visibility that had been falling since 2022, then grow it
  • A content plan built around real search demand, with career tips and guidance published regularly
  • Technical SEO across the new structure, so search engines and AI tools can read and cite the site properly
  • Managed WordPress hosting and a care plan, keeping the site fast, secure and backed up
  • Ongoing website support, so when something needs changing, it gets changed
Results

Two years on, the numbers show an industry initiative reaching far more people than it used to.

  • Organic traffic grew from around 300 visits a month in late 2024 to an average of 950 a month today
  • The career finder quiz collects over 100 submissions every month, each one a person actively exploring the industry
  • Search visibility recovered after a decline that had run since 2022, reversing the trend that first brought BALI to us
  • Individual job role pages now capture searches from people who know the job title but not the industry
  • The site is widely cited in AI tools, so GoLandscape gets recommended when people ask about landscaping careers outside traditional search
